Advertisement for Selection of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs)

Applications are invited from eligible local residents of Golaghat District for the selection of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). The selection process will be conducted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Golaghat, as per the guidelines mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Eligibility: Minimum 18 years as on 01.01.2025.
  • Qualifications:
    1. PLVs must be literate, preferably matriculate, with a good capacity for overall comprehension.
    2. Retired teachers.
    3. Retired government servants and senior citizens.
    4. Anganwadi workers.
    5. Students & law students (until they enrol as lawyers).
    6. Members of non-political, service-oriented NGOs and clubs.
    7. Members of Women Neighbourhood Groups, Maithri Sanghams, and other Self Help Groups, including those from marginalized/vulnerable groups.
    8. Educated prisoners with good behaviour, serving long-term sentences in prisons.
    9. Any other persons deemed fit by the DLSA or Taluk Legal Services Committee.

Disqualifications:

The following individuals will be disqualified from the panel:

  1. Those who fail to show interest in the scheme.
  2. Individuals who have been declared insolvent.
  3. Individuals who have been accused of an offence.
  4. Individuals who become physically or mentally incapable of acting as PLVs.
  5. Individuals who abuse their position or misconduct in any way that prejudices the public interest.
  6. Active political enthusiasts of any political party.

Remuneration:

The PLVs will not receive any salary, remuneration, or wages except for the honorarium fixed by the DLSA from time to time.

PLVs should not look at the role as a source of income. The position requires individuals to have compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to assist marginalized and weaker sections of society. A genuine interest in helping others and a commitment to the cause are essential.

Process for Submitting Application:

  1. The applicant must fill up the application form in their own handwriting legibly.
  2. The applicant should annex relevant testimonials regarding their age, educational qualifications, nationality, and resident status in Golaghat District.
  3. The top of the envelope containing the application should be written in BOLD LETTERS as: "APPLICATION FOR SELECTION AS PLV".
  4. The application form should be affixed with two passport-size photographs (one on the form and one stapled to the form, ensuring the face is not affected).
  5. A self-addressed envelope with a Rs. 10/- postal stamp must also be included.
