The Assam Institute of Management (AIM), a Government of Assam Society, located in Guwahati, is a nationally acclaimed management institute in the North Eastern Region, approved by AICTE (Govt. of India). Established in 1988, AIM is an autonomous self-sustaining institute governed by a Governing Body. The Hon. Education Minister of Assam serves as the Ex-officio Chairman of this body. AIM offers a 2-year Full-Time MBA, a 5-year Full-time Integrated Management Programme, and a PhD Research Centre affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati. The institute's focus includes professional management education, research, consultancy, training, and recruitment projects for the Government of Assam.

AIM is seeking a Director with proven experience from Academia or Industry to oversee the overall management of the institute, including revenue generation for self-sustenance.
Eligibility Criteria:
From Academia:
- Professor (Level-14, 7th CPC) or Associate Professor (Level-13A, 7th CPC), should not be more than 61 years of age at the time of publication of the advertisement.
- Qualifications:
- Proven academic excellence with 1st class throughout the academic career.
- Ph.D. degree in Management/Commerce/Economics or any relevant area.
- Minimum of 15 years experience in academic institutes, research organizations, or industry, including at least 3 years of administrative experience.
- At least two successful Ph.D. completions as Supervisor or Co-Supervisor, OR
- Minimum of 6 research publications in reputed journals (ABDC/Scopus/Web of Science).
From Industry:
- Senior Management level candidate with at least 25 years of experience, including 5 years at the senior management level.
- Qualifications:
- Preferably a Ph.D. in Management/Commerce/Economics.
- Proven track record in research, technical publications, IPR/patents, and industry contributions.
- Experience in guiding Ph.D. students as External Supervisor/Co-Supervisor is desirable.
- Close association with academic institutes in the role of Professor Emeritus/Adjunct Professor/Visiting Professor, etc.
Additional Qualifications for Both Academia and Industry:
- A flair for management and leadership is essential.
- Applicants should have demonstrated administrative and academic excellence.
Important Notes:

Starting Pay Scale: Level-14 Rs. 1,44,200/- plus special allowance of Rs. 6,750/- per month. Other allowances as per Government of Assam rules.
- Fuel Allowance: 60 liters per month for conveyance.

The position is contractual for five (5) years or until the candidate reaches the age of 65, whichever is earlier. The contract can be extended based on performance.

Selection: The Director will be appointed by the Government of Assam following recommendations from the Governing Body.
