    Educational Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria :

    Candidates should possess the following qualifications (in relevant disciplines):

    • Junior Research Fellow (JRF): M.Sc Degree in Natural Science (Botany) from a UGC recognized College/University possessing a minimum 55 % marks.

    • Roles and Responsibilities: Should work in Great Nicobar Island. The work involves extensive field survey, identification of plants, collection and documentation of native, non-native and invasive alien plants enabling effective monitoring through integrated research methodologies, conservation of native flora through various modes, Recovery and rehabilitation/restoration of native flora, maintenance of germplasm, maintenance of conservatories, report preparation, etc. Long term monitoring of effect of invasive alien species on the native flora their control measures and related work

    • Research Associate: Ph.D. in Botany/Natural Science from a UGC recognized Institute/University with specialisation Plant Taxonomy/Ecology/ relevant fields with a strong academic record, and relevant research experience.

    • Role and Responsibilities: Should work in Great Nicobar Island. Systematic survey, identification, collection and documentation of native, non-native and invasive alien plants enabling effective monitoring through integrated research methodologies. Recovery and rehabilitation of native flora, maintenance of conservatories. To Assist the Coordinator, lead the research team, preparation of project reports etc. Preparation of guidelines, assessment of Invasive alien flora and their long-term monitoring, effect on the native flora, their control measures and related work. 

    • Field Assistant: 12th Std pass/B.Sc. Botany/ any relevant under graduate degree from a recognized Board/Institute/University.

    • Role and Responsibilities: To Assist the research team in Great Nicobar Island, in collection and conservation of native flora related work, long term ecological monitoring of invasive alien plant species in the Great Nicobar Island, using integrated approaches. Assisting in recovery, propagation, rehabilitation of native flora and maintenance of conservatories

    • Garden Assistant cum MTA: 10th std. pass from a recognized Board

    • Role and Responsibilities: To Assist the research team in Great Nicobar Island, in collection of plants, germplasm from the field, recovery, propagation and rehabilitation of native flora, maintenance of nursery and conservatories and other related work

    • Data Entry Operator cum Accountant: Graduate in Commerce or Diploma in Computer/ Diploma in Financial Accounting system software and should have adequate knowledge in Accounting work and Data Entry Operation.

    • Role and Responsibilities: Proper Maintenance of all project related records/ files/budget/ accounts/ correspondences, assisting project team/officials.

    Age Limit (As on Closing Date)

    • Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Not more than 28 Years. SC / ST / OBC / Women / PD candidates will get age relaxation as per Govt. of India norms.
    • Research Associate: Not more than 40 Years. SC / ST / OBC / Women / PD candidates will get age relaxation as per Govt. of India norms
    • Field Assistant: 30 years
    • Garden Assistant cum MTA: 35 years
    • Data Entry Operator cum Accountant: 35 years

    Salary Structure

    • Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Rs. 25000 + HRA consolidated per month for non-NET qualified candidates.
    • Research Associate: 47000/- consolidated + HRA per month
    • Field Assistant: Rs.18,000/- (Consolidated per month)
    • Garden Assistant cum MTA: 18000/- (Consolidated per month)
    • Data Entry Operator cum Accountant: 30000/- (consolidated per month)

    GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 

    1. All the positions are full-time and the initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of reappointment upon satisfactory work. 

    2. The age limit may be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)/Women/ Physically Challenged applicants as per Government of India rules. 

    3. Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of their qualification and experience. Short listed candidates will be informed through email / speed post for appearing before an interview committee/selection committee. 

    4. The selected candidates are expected to work in Great Nicobar Island, Botanical Survey of India, Andaman & Regional Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram, and also may be required to travel to BSI Headquarters and will have to join immediately after their selection and issue of appointment letter. 

    5. Recent photograph is to be affixed & self-attested in the application. 

    6. All copies of the self-attested certificates should be enclosed (School/College such as Transfer Certificate, Mark Sheets, Degree/Diploma Certificates etc.) 7. Copies of the Address & Aadhar card proof should be enclosed. 8. The original certificates/documents are to be produced for verification at the time of interview. 

    9. The date & time of interview will be informed through Mobile No. / Email furnished in the application. 

    10. Application received after the last date of submission will be summarily rejected.
