Educationa Qualification & Eligibility Criteria

1. Post Name : Junior Overman

1. Diploma in Mining or Mining engineering or other equivalent qualification approved in that behalf by the Central Government and 

2. Valid Overman’s Certificate of Competency from DGMS under Coal Mines Regulation 2017 or any certificate in Mining which entitles to work as Overman as per Coal Mines Regulation 2017 and 

3. Valid First Aid Certificate.

1. Diploma or Degree in any subject other than Mining Engineering and 

2. Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS and 

3. Valid First Aid Certificate.

How to Apply

1. Candidates should apply only through online mode in NLC India Limited website www.nlcindia.in. 

2. Before registering / applying online, the candidates should ensure that they have mobile number and valid & active personal email ID and keep them active for the entire duration of selection as NLCIL will send all selection related communications only through SMS / email till the selection process is completed. 

3. Candidates have to upload required scanned copies of documents / certificates in prescribed format to establish their eligibility, failing which the application is liable for rejection. 

4. Candidates applying for more than one post should apply and submit separate Registration-cum-Application Form & receipt for fee along with the requisite enclosures for each post(s). 

5. Candidates should submit single application only for any post. In case of multiple applications / registrations for any post, the last registered application shall only be considered. 

6. Candidates should ensure that they have uploaded the required documents before submitting applications, for their benefit, after uploading a document, “View Document” option will be provided in the on-line portal to check. 

7. After payment of required application Fee & uploading required documents / certificates candidates should submit their application through ONLINE, candidates should take a print out of registration cum application form and produce it along with self-attested copies of certificates / documents, at the time of Document / Certificate verification. 

8. Scrutiny of applications for short listing of candidates for Selection will be solely based on documents / certificates uploaded by the candidates at the time of registration / submission of application through ONLINE. 

9. No manual / paper applications will be entertained and candidates are advised not to send any hard copy to this office. 

10. The Online application portal for registration, will be active from 10:00 hours on 15/04/2025 to 17:00 hours on 14/05/2025. 

Selection Process :

1. Selection will be based on Written Test for 100 marks. 

2. The Question Paper will consist of two parts; Part-I with 30 questions of General Aptitude comprising of Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness (at Diploma level) and Part-II with 70 Questions on subject knowledge totally 100 objective type questions with multiple choice answers. 

3. Question Paper for Written Test will have Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions carrying equal mark each, with no negative marks for wrong answer.

4. Duration of Written Test will be 120 minutes. The Question Paper will be in English Language only. 

5. Minimum qualifying marks in Written Test will be 50% in respect of UR & EWS candidates and 40% in respect SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates, against the reserved vacancies. For PAP candidates eligible for bonus 20 marks, minimum qualifying marks of 50% or 40% as the case may be, will be arrived after adding bonus marks. 

6.Project Affected Persons (PAPs of NLCIL Neyveli Projects) will be allowed 20 bonus marks (limited to one beneficiary per award) in the overall marking system. 

7. Final selection will be in the order of merit based on the overall total score of marks obtained in written test by the candidates (plus Bonus marks awarded in case of PAP candidates), ensuring due reservation for SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS categories. 

8. In case of tie at cut-off level, (i.e.) more than one candidate scoring same marks (out of 100) at cut-off level, such cases will be resolved by applying the following criteria, one after another, till the tie is resolved: 

•  Date of Birth of the candidates, senior most candidate(s) by age will be placed higher; 
• Alphabetical order of first name of the candidates.  

Important Notes

i. Candidates applying against the vacancies notified in a particular State, should have proficiency in the specified local / regional language i.e., Tamil (Neyveli, Tamilnadu). In support of local / regional language proficiency, candidates are required to produce SSLC / 10th Standard / Matriculation certificate as proof of having medium of study in local / regional language or having studied local / regional language as one of the subjects. 

ii. Minimum qualifying percentage of marks in the notified educational qualification (Diploma or Degree) in respect of Junior Overman (Trainee) is 60% (Aggregate) for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates and 50% in case of SC/ST candidates against posts reserved. 

iii. Candidates who have passed the notified qualification only are eligible to apply. iv. Wherever percentage of marks is not awarded by the University / Institute and only Grades (GPA / CGPA / CQPI) are awarded, the same should be converted to the exact equivalent percentage of marks for example “On a 10-point scale GPA / CGPA / CQPI of 6.0 will be considered as 60 %.” 

v. Wherever percentage of marks is not awarded by the University / Institute the candidate’s final year / final semester mark sheet indicated as passed with I-Class, I-Division, I-class with distinction and II-Class, II-Division, etc., shall also be considered in addition to the Grand Total of marks in support of notified qualification. 

vi. For the purpose of calculating the aggregate final percentage of marks, the aggregate marks of all years / semesters / trimesters would be taken. Rounding of percentage (%) will not be acceptable under any circumstances, hence 60% of marks and above for UR/EWS /OBC (NCL) & 50 % of marks and above for SC/ST will only be considered for the post of Junior Overman (Trainee). 

vii. All qualifications should have been acquired from Indian Universities/Institutes, recognized by AICTE/DGMS (whichever is applicable) or any other appropriate statutory authority in India.
